David Morris, Chief Judge, comments on 2010 South Coast Wine Show: "Another successful South Coast Wine Show has been completed, with once again an increase in entries over the previous year, which is pleasing to see the Industry support. The general standard was higher than last year, with an increase in medals to entries awarded. The Dry White classes were the strongest section of the show with the Semillon class being exceptionally strong, also there were good examples of Riesling and the Chardonnay class was by far stronger than it has been in the past. One disappointing area of the whites were the Verdelho’s, previously a strong section of the show, and a variety that in the past had looked a most suitable variety to be grown in this area, lacking was the freshness of varietal fruit so evident in the past. While the Dry Reds were again not as strong as the white wines, the quality was up on last year, with more fruit characters evident. A very good example of Tannat was rewarded with a gold medal and this variety may have a future in this viticulture region. I congratulate all the trophy and award winners, and encourage others to strive for fruit freshness and flavour profile to achieve medal status. Many thanks go to my fellow judges for their dedication to the assessment of the wines in such a professional manner. Finally I would like to thank the wine show committee and stewards for their hospitality and their diligent work in running another successful South Coast Wine Show"
Additional David Morris comments by specific class can be found in the results below.

2009
The judges praised the entrants in this year’s South Coast Wine Show.
Chief Judge, David Morris, said that while the number of medals was on par with last year, the standard was actually better.
He said even the entries that missed out on medals were sound, well-made and were good, solid, commercial wines.
The whites continued to dominate with more than 50% considered worthy of a medal.
While the number of medals awarded in the red classes was lower, David said the standard of reds being produced in the local region continued to improve, particularly the Merlots, Cabernets and Chambourcins.
He said the Semillon class, in particular, had been a "pleasure" to judge. He said the entries in this class were ‘superb’ & of world class standard.
The judges enjoyed the opportunity to meet with exhibitors and to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of individual entries at the Public Wine Tasting.
He also said this year’s show had been "thoroughly enjoyable" to judge, with the high standard of entries commanding plenty of discussion.
David said local winemakers were all very professional in their approach . It was particularly pleasing that there was an extremely low level of wine faults seen in entries; far lower than in many other shows.

2007
The 2007 South Coast Wine show took place on Australia Day. Judges David Morris, David Lowe and Bryan Martin tasted 155 entries from 25 vineyards and wineries from the Shoalhaven Coast and Southern Highlands Regions and South Coast Zone. For the first time, as part of a training program, associate judges were invited to attend both white and red sections of the show.

Seventy seven medals comprising six gold, fourteen silver and fifty seven bronze were awarded. The gold medal winners were Coolangatta Estate 2006, 2004, 2001 and 2000 Semillons as well as McVitty Grove 2005 Black Label Pinot Noir and Cherry Tree Hill 2005 Riesling.
This was another successful show with a record number of entries. Judges commented on the increasing quality of the wines submitted.
The following day separate exhibitors' and public tastings took place where wine makers had the opportunity to discuss their results with the judges. This is an integral part of improving the regions' wine quality.

The public tasting attracted a record crowd who enjoyed two hours of good wine and food.
The Wine Show Presentation Dinner took place in early February and was well attended with excellent venue and food provided by Bannisters Restaurant and the opportunity to taste some of the gold and silver medal winning wines.
All medal winning wines went on display at the Milton Agricultural Show in earlyMarch.
2006
Following the South Coast Wine Show 2006 judging a total of 5 gold, 11 silver and 45 bronze medals were presented at the Wine Show Dinner at Bannisters Restaurant Mollymook. This followed assessment of a strong field of 136 entries in 15 classes by the three highly experienced judges, David Morris, David Lowe and Russell Cody.
Special awards went to Coolangatta Estate 1998 Semillon (gold medal and trophies for Best Wine of Show, Best White Wine and Best Wine from Shoalhaven Coast grapes), Breakfast Creek 2004 Chambourcin (gold medal and trophies for Best Red Wine and Best Chambourcin), Berrima Estate 2005 ‘Tertini’ Riesling (gold medal and trophy for Best Wine from Southern Highland Grapes) and Crooked River 2004 Unwooded Chardonnay (silver medal and Best Wine Made in a Shoalhaven Coast Winery).

Chief judge David Morris, commented that the best white styles were Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho & Semillon with a very good example of a young Riesling and some superb aged Semillon. He said this years Chambourcin class was the best seen at the show to date with the best reds being medium bodied Rhone styles with soft fleshy flavours.
Coolangatta Estate continued their impressive show record with gold medals for the 2001 and 2003 and 1998 Semillon, as well as 4 silver and 11 bronze medals across a wide range of classes.
Other successful Shoalhaven Coast entrants were: Cambewarra Estate (2 silver, 3 bronze), Crooked River Wines (1 silver, 7 bronze), Kladis Estate Wines (4 bronze), Bawley Vale Estate (2 bronze), Seven Mile Vineyard (1 bronze), Fern Gully Winery (1 bronze), Roselea Vineyard (1 bronze), and The Silos Estate (1 bronze).

Medal winners from the Southern Highlands were: Berrima Estate (1 gold, 1 bronze); Centennial Vineyard (2 silver, 6 bronze); McVitty Grove (1 silver, 1 bronze); Blue Metal Vineyard (2 bronze); Bousaada Vineyard (1 bronze); Diamond Creek Estate (1 bronze) and Eling Forest Winery (1 bronze).
Far south coast producers Breakfast Creek (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) and Tilba Valley Winery (1 bronze) also received awards.
